 Management Ideas Essay

After the end of the Industrial Trend, large companies were starting to grow in size and power in order to fulfill what looked the countless demands for new goods and services. Because corporations and labor causes grew, there were a need to develop a more systematic study of organization and management, referred to as management theory, the significant being Frederick Taylor's Principles of Scientific Administration which involved the development of schooling workers through special incentives and reimbursement (Boone l. 33). Generally speaking, early managing scientists were known to believe that there was just one way to arrange companies and manage staff. By the beginning of the 20th century, there were preliminary attempts to get launching a systematic and study of supervision; by the fifties, there were multiple books and articles dedicated to organization and management theory. Since then, a number of new paradigms, or designs, concerning worker motivation and employee-employer relationships have aroused influencing the standard principles of modern management theory.

Materials Review: Herzberg and Drucker

Frederick Herzberg, a master on managing theory, is known best for his motivation-hygiene theory and work in job richness. In his document, One More Time: How can you Motivate Staff, Herzberg is exploring the past hypotheses of motivation and progress the motivation-hygiene theory. The motivation-hygiene theory suggests " the elements involved in producing job fulfillment (and motivation) are individual and unique from the factors that lead to job dissatisfaction" (Boone p. 174). In others words, task satisfaction and job discontentment are not the alternative of one one other but rather two separate thinking.
